Is luxury packaging interesting for web shops? Yes!

Nowadays, both in the Netherlands and abroad, the web shops are sprouting like mushrooms. That is also not surprising, because starting a webshop is not that complicated (anymore) and you can keep the entry costs relatively low. Although that is all positive, there is one disadvantage: depending on the industry in which your webshop operates, the competition can be fierce. One way to distinguish yourself from all your competitors is to use eye-catching luxury packaging.
There have been countless investigations around the world about packaging material in shops and supermarkets and they all show the same thing: consumers determine their product choice almost entirely on the basis of the packaging. A glitzy, luxury packaging with bright colors is almost always preferred over a boring, cheap-looking variant. What else is on the label, ingredient list or even on the price tag, matters much less. We judge purely on the basis of the outside.
This may be the case for physical stores, but what about web shops? There too, the importance of well-thought-out packaging material with the right appearance is growing enormously. In the current market it is clear that parties such as Bol.com and Coolblue, who use clearly recognizable, cleverly designed packaging, benefit from this.
First, luxury packaging does something with it image of your company. This is very similar to the luxury packaging in addition to the boring packaging in the supermarket. A consumer who orders something from you and then receives a nice package will have a positive feeling about that order. "I have chosen a really good webshop!" When the order arrives in a cheap cardboard box, all experience is gone.
In addition, a well-designed package increases the recognizability of your company. If you come to visit friends and there is a box in the corner with the text "There I am, unpack me!", You know exactly which company they have bought something from. The more often (potential) customers think of your company or brand in daily life, the greater the chance that they will buy from you when they need something from your industry.
Many starting entrepreneurs use boring, standard packaging because they are afraid that the costs would otherwise be too high. It is true that companies that use expensive packaging material ultimately pass on those costs to the consumer, but luxury-looking packaging certainly does not have to cost any capital. A nice colored box with its own print is in most cases already a perfect way to start. The only thing you need is a nice design - with a little creativity you can do it yourself - and a party that can print the packaging for you.
