This week I was first interviewed for a podcast, by podcast professor Peter de Ruiter. Now I don't like being recorded - I always find myself sounding horrible - but I have good faith in Peter's hands. I listened to two of his podcasts and I was pleasantly surprised. Substantive, interrogative and entertaining. That is why I like to place the first: speech synthesis.
Listening doc: Speech synthesis - devices that talk
by Peter de Ruiter
“We are surrounded by voices. Most are real, the others are almost real: synthesized speech based on the voices of people who had them recorded. They come from our telephone, from our route planner, from websites and we hear them on the train. Devices can talk and they do it better and better. "
