PODCAST: Listening doc Speech synthesis - devices that talk
This week I was interviewed for the first time for a podcast, by podcast professor Peter de Ruiter. Now I don't like being taped – I always think I sound awful – but in Peter's hands I'm quite confident. I listened to two of his podcasts and I was pleasantly surprised. Substantive, questioning and entertaining. That's why I like to place the first one: about speech synthesis.
Listening Doc: Speech Synthesis – Devices That Talk
by Peter de Ruiter
“We are surrounded by voices. Most are real, the others are almost real: synthesized speech, based on voices of people who have them recorded. They come from our telephone, from our route planner, from websites and we hear them on the train. Devices can talk and they are getting better and better.”
